We are starting a new business! My roommate and I have turned our dorm room into a workroom. I would like to mention though, that this is not our first time as entrepreneurs. Our first business idea came into fruition last year with the help of a "silent backer" (at least that is what she liked to call herself). It was a Pizza business! We cooked the pizzas from fresh ingredients out of the kitchen in one of the dorms on campus and ended up doing quite well. Unfortunately we had to move on from that because we felt that ultimately pizza making wasn't our life's calling and we should probably invest our time in other things, or as the saying goes, "quit while you're ahead."
Sooo that brings me to our current venture. Dust and Diamonds- Reused, Renewed, and Reborn.
It's like a modern-vintage clothing and decor shop.
Basically, my roommate, Kat, makes clothes inspired from many different origins...thrift store hunting, piecemeal, and from "scratch" and I make home/office decor- cute fun things that have a purpose and brighten your life.
The idea is that we have a lot of craftiness in us and enjoy putting time into making beautiful things and we want to share that with people. If there is a look that you saw in a name brand store but it's a little too pricey for you, chances are we will have a similar look that fits your budget and is homemade. Same goes for the decor side of things. We want you to have access to all the fun things to decorate your home without going over your budget.
As students paying their way through college we think it's important for everyone to be fashionable for less. And who knows what else will end up in our store (which, by the way is based out of our dorm room and will be available online soon!)
